Status
This participant funding opportunity is open from January 26, 2026, to March 23, 2026.
Participant funding notice
The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) will conduct a public hearing in Port Hope, Ontario, in November 2026 to consider an application from Cameco to renew its licence for the Port Hope Conversion Facility for a period of 20 years.
The CNSC acknowledges that the Port Hope Conversion Facility is located within the traditional lands and waters of the Michi Saagiig Anishinaabeg. This territory is covered by the Gunshot Treaty (1787–88), the Williams Treaties (1923), and the Williams Treaties Settlement Agreement (2018).
The CNSC is offering participant funding to assist Indigenous Nations and communities, members of the public and interested parties in:
- reviewing documentation, including CNSC staff’s and Cameco’s Commission member documents
- participating in the Commission hearing by providing new, distinctive and valuable information through informed and topic-specific interventions to the Commission
Up to $150,000 in participant funding will be disbursed among all successful applicants.
