Status
This participant funding opportunity is now closed, and funding has been approved.
Participant funding notice
The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) previously announced that it was offering up to $75,000 in participant funding for Indigenous Nations and communities, members of the public and interested parties. This funding was to assist in reviewing the mid-term update for licensed activities conducted by BWXT Nuclear Energy Canada Inc. (BWXT NEC) at its Toronto and Peterborough facilities and in participating in the Commission meeting. The mid-term update will cover the first 5 years of the 10-year licensing periods for both facilities.
The BWXT NEC Toronto facility is located in the traditional territory of many nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples, and now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. The BWXT Peterborough facility is situated on the Treaty 20 Michi Saagiig territory and the traditional territory of the Williams Treaties First Nations.
