Document description
GD-314 provides guidance for the implementation of a radiation protection program to transport nuclear substances in accordance with the Nuclear Safety and Control Act (NSCA) and the regulations made under the NSCA.
Some carriers, and most consignors and consignees, are licensed by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and are covered by radiation protection programs implemented through the CNSC's licensing process. While most carriers do not require a licence from the CNSC, they remain subject, however, to the requirement for a radiation protection program pursuant to the Packaging and Transport of Nuclear Substances Regulations. This document is intended to assist carriers in developing a radiation protection program.
