Summary:

REGDOC-1.3.1, Licence Application Guide: Uranium Mines and Mills, is currently being developed. This guide is intended to assist applicants in the preparation and submission of an application for licence to carry out activities related to mining and milling of uranium ore. It will cover all phases and activities related to the licensing of uranium mines and mills, including siting, construction, operation and decommissioning phases, as well as mining, milling, and waste management activities.

REGDOC-1.3.1 will document and clarify the CNSC's current expectations. It is not expected to result in new or increased obligations for licensees.

Status:

Draft REGDOC-1.3.1 is in development. Consultation is expected to begin in Spring 2015.
