Administrative monetary penalty issued to MyHealth Partners Inc.
On May 9, 2025, the CNSC issued an administrative monetary penalty (AMP) of $15,820 to MyHealth Partners Inc. The company, based in Toronto, Ontario, holds a CNSC licence for the possession, transfer, import, use and storage of nuclear substances for diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures.
The AMP was issued to MyHealth Partners Inc. for failing to implement a radiation protection program that keeps doses as low as reasonably achievable through control of occupational and public exposure to radiation.
On February 15, 2025, CNSC staff conducted an inspection at the licensee’s new location in Calgary, Alberta. The inspection identified several items of non-compliance, including workers not following licensee procedures for the use of syringe shields, dosimetry and personal contamination monitoring. During the inspection, CNSC staff identified radioactive contamination on a worker’s clothes and neck. This worker’s personal contamination was undetected by the licensee and could have resulted in a regulatory overexposure had it not been for the intervention of CNSC staff. These inspection findings demonstrated that the licensee began operating at this location prior to implementing effective controls over occupational and public exposure to radiation.
In addition, in 2024, CNSC staff conducted inspections at 6 other locations operated by the licensee. Of those 6 inspections, 5 identified non-compliances related to contamination detection and proper calibration of instrumentation, which are related to the implementation of an effective radiation protection program.
This AMP is being issued to MyHealth Partners Inc. to promote compliance and to deter reoccurrence.
