Administrative monetary penalty issued to JLP Services Inc.
On June 25, 2024, the CNSC issued an administrative monetary penalty (AMP) of $3,730 to JLP Services Inc. The company holds a CNSC licence for the possession, transfer, use and storage of portable nuclear gauges.
On March 27, 2024, the CNSC conducted an inspection, which identified that the licensee failed to properly label one of its portable nuclear gauges. This was a repeated non-compliance that had been identified in prior inspections.
The CNSC conducted a follow-up inspection on May 1, 2024, to evaluate the effectiveness of corrective measures submitted by the licensee. This inspection identified that the licensee still had some improperly labelled portable nuclear gauges.
The AMP was issued because of repeated non-compliance and ineffective implementation of corrective measures related to improper labelling of the licensee’s portable nuclear gauges, and is meant to promote future compliance and to deter recurrence.
