Administrative monetary penalty issued to Canadian Natural Resources Limited

On July 25, 2023, the CNSC issued an administrative monetary penalty (AMP) of $8,000 to Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL). CNRL holds a CNSC licence authorizing the possession, transfer, import, export, use and storage of fixed nuclear gauges. The AMP was issued because workers were repeatedly permitted to enter a vessel equipped with a nuclear gauge without CNRL having properly ensured that the gauge had been made safe. This occurred at a CNRL facility near Fort McMurray. The licensee has taken measures to prevent a reoccurrence.
