Arrangements with Indigenous Nations and Communities

November 2022 – Terms of reference for long-term relationship with the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation

The Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation (AOPFN) and the CNSC signed terms of reference for long-term engagement, providing ongoing respectful, open dialogue, engagement and collaboration regarding CNSC-regulated facilities and activities of interest to AOPFN, and includes an annual workplan which AOPFN and CNSC staff collaboratively develop and implement on a yearly basis.

AOPFN Chief Wendy Jocko and Clare Cattrysse, Director of the CNSC’s Indigenous and Stakeholder Relations Division, met and signed the terms of reference in person on November 30, 2022.

June 2022 – Terms of reference for long-term engagement with the Ya’thi Néné Lands and Resources (YNLR)

The Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation (AOPFN) and the CNSC signed terms of reference for long-term engagement, providing ongoing respectful, open dialogue, emgagement and collaboration regarding CNSC-regulated facilities and activities of interest to OAPFN, and includes an annual workplan which AOPFN and CNSC staff collaboratively develop and implement on a yearly basis.

YNLR Chair of the Board Mary Denechezhe and Clare Cattrysse, Director of the CNSC’s Indigenous and Stakeholder Relations Division, signed the agreement virtually in June 2022.

March 2022 – Terms of reference for long-term engagement with the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation

The arrangement provides a forum of collaboration to address areas of interest regarding CNSC-regulated facilities and activities within the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation traditional and treaty territories.

February 2021 – Terms of reference for long-term Engagement with the Curve Lake First Nation

The arrangement provides a forum of collaboration to address areas of interest regarding CNSC-regulated facilities and activities within the Curve Lake First Nation’s traditional territory.

December 2019 – Terms of reference for long-term engagement with the Métis Nation of Ontario

The arrangement provides a forum of collaboration to address areas of interest regarding CNSC-regulated facilities and activities within the Métis Nation of Ontario’s regions and traditional territories.

May 2019 – Terms of reference for long-term engagement with the Saugeen Ojibway Nation

The arrangement provides a forum of collaboration to address areas of interest regarding CNSC-regulated facilities and activities within the Saugeen Ojibway Nation’s traditional territory.

May 2019 – Terms of reference for long-term engagement with the Historic Saugeen Métis

The arrangement provides a forum of collaboration to address areas of interest regarding CNSC-regulated facilities and activities within the Historic Saugeen Métis’ traditional territory.
