Respectful communication with CNSC staff

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) supports respectful and constructive communication. We expect all interactions with the public by phone, email, mail or through official meetings to be respectful.

This helps us provide meaningful responses to as many inquiries as possible and supports the well-being of our staff.

Our expectations

We expect all forms of communication to be respectful and free of personal attacks or discriminatory language.

We will not respond to inquiries that are:

  • rude or aggressive
  • abusive, offensive or threatening
  • vulgar or inappropriate in tone
  • repeated after a response has been provided
  • spam or impersonation
  • not related to our mandate
  • not written in English, French or an Indigenous language

Anyone who does not communicate respectfully with the CNSC will not receive a response. CNSC staff also have the right to end phone calls or not respond to future communications.
