Professional biography
Noreddine has worked at the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) since 2006 and is a senior nuclear safety expert with extensive experience in the sector. In his role as Technical Specialist, he provides strategic scientific and technical advice to support nuclear safety assessment and risk-informed decision making. He has held a number of senior roles at the CNSC, including Director of the Reactor Behaviour Division, and has helped advance innovative approaches to nuclear safety assessment.
Expertise and education
He is a professional engineer and holds a master’s degree in nuclear engineering from the École Polytechnique de Montréal. His expertise includes nuclear safety assessment and the regulation of nuclear facilities. He works with peers across Canada and internationally and contributes to national and international nuclear safety technical committees.
Roles and responsibilities
In his role, Noreddine provides strategic and scientific advice and leads integrated innovation assessments related to nuclear safety. He serves as co-chair of the Bruce Power–CNSC Administrative Protocol team for the review of the innovative large-break loss-of-coolant accident (LBLOCA) composite analytical approach. He is also chair of CSA Group’s Nuclear Technical Committee (N290B) on Reactor Safety and Risk Management, which supports the development of standards for the safe operation of nuclear reactor facilities.
