Professional biography
Kimberly has worked at the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) since 2006. As Director of the Power Reactor Licensing and Compliance Integration Division, she leads work that supports licensing, compliance and regulatory oversight for Canada’s nuclear power generating sites.
Expertise and education
Her academic background includes an undergraduate degree in radiation sciences from the University of Toronto and a diploma in nuclear medicine technology from the Michener Institute. She began her CNSC career as an inspector in the Directorate of Nuclear Substances Regulation and later spent 11 years at the Darlington site office as an inspector and site supervisor.
Roles and responsibilities
In her role, Kimberly leads a team responsible for preparing the CNSC’s annual regulatory oversight report for nuclear power generating sites and Canada’s national report to the International Atomic Energy Agency Convention on Nuclear Safety. She also supports, evaluates, improves and integrates processes for the Power Reactor Regulatory Program.
Other highlights
Kimberly represents the CNSC as Canada’s representative and Vice-Chair on the Nuclear Energy Agency’s Working Group on Reactor Oversight. Her experience in inspection, site oversight, licensing and compliance supports continuous improvement of the CNSC’s compliance program and helps advance Canada’s role in international nuclear safety efforts.
