Point Lepreau
The community of Point Lepreau is home to the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station and Point Lepreau Waste Management Facility. New Brunswick Power owns and is licensed to operate both facilities.

Point Lepreau nuclear power plant
Located approximately 40 km west of Saint John and on the shores of the Bay of Fundy, the station has one power reactor licensed to generate 600 megawatts of electricity. It began operating in 1982 and remains in service today.
The Point Lepreau Waste Management Facility is located on the same site as the generating station and stores spent fuel from the power reactors, along with low- and medium-level radioactive wastes from the operation of the facility. For more information, please see NB Power’s Web site.
The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) has full-time personnel on site who perform inspections to evaluate operations and to verify compliance with regulatory requirements and licence conditions.
