In January 2007, the Commission Tribunal directed CNSC staff to initiate research studies on tritium releases in Canada. In response, staff initiated the Tritium Studies Project with several information gathering and research activities extending to 2010. The objective of this major research project is to enhance the information used in the regulatory oversight of tritium processing and tritium releases in Canada.

The results of all these studies and related recommendations will be presented to the Commission in June 2010.
