Draft Screening Report – Decommissioning of the Heavy Water Upgrading Plant, Chalk River Laboratories (FEAI 31931)

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) invites public comment on the Draft Environmental Assessment Screening Report for the proposed decommissioning of the Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) Heavy Water Upgrading Plant, at Chalk River Laboratories.

The environmental assessment is being conducted pursuant to the requirements of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.

The public comment period ends on February 1, 2008.

The Screening Report is based on a separate Environmental Assessment Study Report prepared by AECL in response to EA Guidelines approved by CNSC.

Interested parties should address their written comments to CNSC Environmental Assessment Officer at the address indicated below. CNSC staff will review and address all comments received before submitting the EA Screening Report to the Commission for approval and decision under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act. All comments received regarding the EA Screening Report will be public information.
