Consultation Session on Draft EA Screening Report for the Bruce A Refurbishment for Life Extension and Continued Operations Project, Bruce A Nuclear Generating Station

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) will be holding a consultation session on the draft Environmental Assessment (EA) Screening Report for the Bruce A Refurbishment for Life Extension and Continued Operations Project on Tuesday, January 24, 2006. The objective of the session is to provide clarification on the purpose and content of the draft Screening Report and its role in the EA process, with the aim of assisting the public in preparing comments on the report.

The deadline for submission of written comments on the Screening Report to CNSC is February 10, 2006. Comments received will be dispositioned and, if necessary, revisions will be made to the Screening Report prior to submitting it to the Commission for consideration at a public hearing, which is expected to occur in May 2006. Following the hearing, the Commission will render its decision on the Screening Report pursuant to Section 20 of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.

CNSC staff will be on hand to answer questions and to clarify CNSC EA process and the information in the Screening Report.

The session will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 from 9:00am – 1:00pm at the Best Western Governor’s Inn in Kincardine, Ontario.

There will be a formal presentation by CNSC staff at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Question and Answer period. This consultation session is open to all interested parties. Please feel free to share this notice with others you know who may be interested in attending.
