Draft Screening Report – Environmental Assessment
Decommissioning of a Pool Test Reactor (PTR) at the
Atomic Energy of Canada Limited Chalk River Laboratories, Chalk River, Ontario

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) invites public comment on the Draft Screening Report concerning the Environmental Assessment of the proposal by Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL for the decommissioning of Pool Test Reactor at the Chalk River Laboratories. This environmental assessment is being conducted pursuant to the requirements of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.

The Draft Screening Report is based on an Environmental Assessment Study Report prepared by AECL in response to Environmental Assessment Guidelines approved and issued by CNSC Designated Officer in July, 2005.

The public comment period ends October 27, 2006. CNSC staff will review and address all comments received before finalizing the Screening Report and forwarding it to CNSC Commission for approval and decision under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act. All comments received regarding the Screening Report are considered public information.
